Also, I see people "mixing" different courses which can contribute to
substantial confusion regarding concepts because of the different
methodologies.
I think mixing different courses is fine. If you actually get the concepts confused due to different methodologies, then you obviously didn't catch on to the concept in the first place. If this happens, then you should be questioning yourself and whether or not you are committed to learning the material (because "Accounting ain't rocket science"). Whenever I saw 2 methods of presentation, it helped reinforce the concepts because I understood how to answer them in 2 different ways. Also, most CPA reviews teach the same standard methodologies with little variation.
I think the big issue with 2 courses is that it's an overwhelming amount of material that requires realistic time management and commitment.
Typical outcomes:
- you finish both courses (least likely)
- you finish 1 course and use the other as supplement (recommended)
- you do a little bit of both, but never finish a complete course (most likely)

i started with Becker as my only and primary source but now purch yaeger financial and using them as a primary source and becker as supplement (mainly their mnemonics)
my question is Mr Yaeger said in this dvds that he doesnt like mnemonics. i think even said he is against it in one of his HC DVDs lectures. i wonder why? I love becker mnemonics and cant see myself studying without some of the major mnemonics (example: pensions, eliminating j/e, government, leasing, etc etc etc..mnemonics).

Some of the Yaeger instructors use mnemonics, which I also find helpful. That's one of my main gripes about Yaeger, it seems like the instructors don't talk to each other before filming their section so there's no consistency or smooth transition between instructors.

Thanks, OZZ. Stick with it and you'll be fine. 75 is all that matters.

I seem to recall that Phil did use mnemonics, occasionally.

For those that used Yaeger, what did you do for progress assesment? Just use the Wiley Test bank CD sample exams?
I see a lot of people using Becker and using progress assesments - just wondering if there is a comparable tool for us Yaeger users.
