I passed the Liberty tax service tax preparer level 1 exam yesterday with a score of 96% . What hourly rate can I expect for a tax preparer in New Jersey.

I am guessing $10 , since a waver told me that he gets $8 . Any input is welcome.

I work for $15 / hr   , I am considering doing work in tax office on weekends to get some tax experience.

Thanks in advance

Have you taken any courses from Liberty Tax?  I am also interested in working as a tax preparer there.

Yes I took Liberty tax service course . The course is free and the books are free too . The person who taught us at Liberty did a very good job .

U can take a tax course at Liberty or H&R block.

I'm thinking about taking this course through H&R Block and then working there after I get out of school in May and before I start at Big4 in Sept. Anyone think this is a bad idea? What kind of wage can I expect in SF Bay Area?

007CPA, I am not sure what job you are going to get at HRB during a non-tax season. They normally offer tax classes from September till December, and the jobs are offered from December/January through April/May. I didn't hear about any other jobs (as tax preparers) at HRB.
The pay at HRB is close to the wage-minimum.
I would say: just enjoy your last free summer. The HRB experience is not worth a lot (and I doubt you will get any job with them in May).
